A great way to reinforce the Liturgical Calendar in the context of Catholic homeschooling is to find creative ways to tie the mundane (eating) to the holy (days of holy obligation and Feast days). The website Catholic Cuisine makes that easy. The preparation of food can be an object lesson, for instance, on the life of a Saint when the dish relates to where this or that saint was born or did their ministry.
For instance, on the Feast of St. John Bosco on January 31, Catholic Cuisine features "skillet lasagna" with bread sticks.
Teaching and bonding opportunities abound!
